MIA Update: The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced three burial updates for service members who have been missing and unaccounted for from World War II. Returning home for burial with full military honors are:

-- Navy Seaman 2nd Class Cecil H. Thornton, 21, of Rogersville, Alabama, was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. He was among 429 crewmen killed that day. He was buried in his hometown on March 11, 2024. -- Navy Radioman Third Class Starring B. Winfield, 22, of San Rafael, California, was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. He was among 429 crewmen killed that day. He will be buried on May 9, 2024, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. -- Army Pfc. Raymond U. Schlamp, 28, of Dubuque, Iowa, was assigned to Company G, 2nd Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. He was killed in action in September 1944. The War Department issued a finding of death in September 1945. He will be buried on a date and location to be determined.
