MIA Update - April 15, 2024

MIA Update: The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced four burial updates for service members who have been missing and unaccounted for from World War II and the Korean War. Returning home for burial with full military honors are:

-- Navy Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class Charles D. Brown, 22, of Arcola, Illinois, was assigned to the battleship USS West Virginia, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. He was among 106 crewmen killed that day. He will be buried on April 20, 2024, in Humboldt, Illinois. -- Navy Seaman 2nd Class George T. George, 26, of St. Louis, Missouri, was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. He was among 429 crewmen killed that day. He will be buried on May 13, 2024, at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), Honolulu, Hawaii. -- Army Pvt. 1st Class Anthony J. Lopa, 17, of North Arlington, New Jersey, was a member of Delta Battery, 82nd Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was killed in action on Aug. 31, 1950. He will be buried in Wrightstown, New Jersey, on a date to be determined. -- Army Private 1st Class Harold D. Wilder, 19, of Pennington Gap, Virginia, was a member of L Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was reported missing in action on July 11, 1950. Interment services are pending.
