Veteran's Holiday Celebration, West Los Angeles Veterans Center, Sunday 5 December

Hello, my name is Dadisi Elliott. I am coordinating veteran outreach efforts to organize and increase attendance for the 18th Annual Veterans' Holiday Celebration, which will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at the West Los Angeles VA. This is an event where we honor the service and sacrifices of our troops, both past and present, with homemade and restaurant cooked holiday meals, first-rate entertainment, gifts, and most importantly to us, time together in fellowship, friendship, and camaraderie.

Last year, over 3,500 veterans from all over the Los Angeles area attended the event. This year we are looking to increase our turnout of veterans, but also emphasize inviting two groups. First, to reach out to recently returned veterans who served in Iraq and/or Afghanistan, and second, to boost the numbers of active duty military who come to the celebration.

An important part of achieving our vision is by obtaining the support of local units, bases, or veteran-affiliated organizations to bring active duty and newly returned veterans to the event.

I was hoping you might have insight or further contacts that could assist us in achieving these goals.

The event location is 11301 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90073. We are located in Lot 29, adjacent to the Jackie Robinson Stadium. Event runs from 1:00pm to 6:30pm.
