Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, March 29, 2014

On September 25, 2009 Governor Schwarzenegger signed AB 717 which established March 30th as:" Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" and encourages public schools and educational institutions to observe that day and to conduct exercises recognizing the contributions of all those involved in the Vietnam War and remembering the sacrifices they made for their country.

Although our nation was divided in its support of the Vietnam War, we must pledge to never forget the outstanding strength, service and sacrifice of those who fought to defend democracy, human dignity and the right to self determination.

This year Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day will be observed March 29,2014 at 10:00 AM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside.CA 92508.

The Inland Empire Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 47 will be presenting the patriotic event. The event will recognize and honor all Vietnam Veterans, living and deceased, as well as all Veterans and our active military.

The event program will present Actual veteran accounts of their military experience. In addition, patriotic music and patriotic songs by a patriotic singer will add to the display of patriotism.

This event is open to all veterans, families, friends and the public. Admission is free. Please plan to attend.

There will be a short motorcycle ride from the American Legion Post 79 Fairmont Park in Riverside CA, 2979 Dexter Ave., to the Riverside National Cemetery. The motorcycles will arrive prior to the beginning of the event at the Riverside National Cemetery. For motorcycle ride details visit: www.vva47. com.

Commander, Eddie Blankenship, of American legion Post 79,2979 Dexter Dr., Riverside, CA 92501 at Fairmount Park, is inviting all VVA Chapter 47 Vietnam Veterans and other Vietnam Veterans to his post for a complimentary dinner in recognition and honor of your military service in Vietnam.

All other Veterans and guests attending are asked to make a small donation for the thanksgiving style dinner that will be provide by AL Post 79.

The dinner will be begin at 1800. Just show up and let them know you are a Vietnam Veteran
