Actors Support State Latino Veterans Memorial

West Los Angeles -- Actors Joey Medina, Emilio Rivera, Lou Pizarro and Kevyn Major Howard will announce their support of a memorial honoring Latino veterans in Historic State Capitol Park, Sacramento, at a community meeting sponsored by the California Mexican American Veterans Memorial Committee and the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Veterans Home of California, West Los Angeles, 800 Bringham Avenue.

Actor, Writer, Director and Producer Joey Medina is best known for his part in, ‘The Original Latin Kings of Comedy Tour,’ which featured Medina, along with George Lopez, Cheech Marin and Paul Rodriguez. The Bronx native’s credits include ‘Body Language,’ ‘El Matador’ which he directed and ‘Devil’s Knight.’

Emilio Rivera has appeared in ‘Next Day Air,’ ‘Street Kings,’ ‘Delta Force,’ ‘Spider-Man 3,’ and ‘Sons of Anarchy.’ Actor, Director and Producer Lou Pizarro appeared in ‘Operation Repo: The Movie,’ which he directed. Operation Repo takes a look inside the world of car repossession with a team of “professionals” from California’s San Fernando Valley.

Actor and photographer Kevyn Major Howard is best known for his role in Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Full Metal Jacket.’ Other credits include ‘The Human Face,’ ‘Sudden Impact,’ ‘Alien Nation,’ and ‘Heroes of Desert Storm.’ Frank Sinatra, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, and Ron Howard are among the many actors with whom Howard has worked. Kevyn Major Howard Studios is known as the first headshot photography studio to create a series of television commercials specifically targeting headshot photography for actors and business professionals.

Howard created The Fueled by the Fallen Memorial Race Car Team to honor the fallen of all the military branches. The California Troop-support group pays tribute to service members who died while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom with a mobile memorial. Two custom made cars from the mobile memorial will be available for viewing at the Veterans Home in West Los Angeles on September 7.

The California Mexican-American Veterans Memorial Beautification and Enhancement Committee was created by SB 599 (Chapter 558 of 2007). The committee is made up of five appointees of the Governor and one appointee of the State Senate President Pro Tempore and one appointee of the Speaker of the State Assembly. The Committee is authorized to establish a schedule for the design, construction and dedication of the enhanced memorial; to solicit and select designs that may be used to beautify the existing memorial; and to solicit and receive contributions that will be used to off-set the costs of the enhancements and beautification project.
