Veterans Home Of California – Barstow To Hold Active Shooter Training

BARSTOW, CA--The Veterans Home of California – Barstow will hold “Active Shooter” training to ensure Veterans Home of California staff knows active shooter policies and procedures that help protect the safety of residents and staff in the event of a shooting incident on the property. The training will include the California Department of Veterans Affairs, California Highway Patrol—Barstow Division, Barstow Police and Fire Departments and other emergency units.

TIME: 10:00 a. m. – 12:00 p. m.

PARTICIPANTS: Department and Agencies participating:

· California Highway Patrol—Barstow Division
· Barstow Police Department
· Barstow Fire Protection District
· Barstow Logistics Marine Base Fire Department
· Desert Ambulance

TRAINING INCLUDES:

· Law Enforcement Response to An Active Shooter Event
· Facility Policies and Procedures Dealing With a Violent Person
· Rapid Evacuation of Facility Under Hostile Conditions
· Emergency Medical Triage and Treatment
· Assisting First Responders with Patient Care and Transport
· Training on Medical Air Ambulance Capabilities and Loading of Patients

PURPOSE:

The training is intended to ensure Veterans Home of California staff knows active shooter policies and procedures that help protect the safety of residents and staff in the event of a shooting incident on the property.
