SUPPORT CALIFORNIA MILITARY FAMILIES BY SUPPORTING OPERATION CHRISTMAS FOR OUR TROOPS III
 
California Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Tom Johnson joined with Yellow Ribbon America, the National Guard Association of California, and the California Legislature yesterday to kick off the third annual "Operation Christmas for Our Troops," the statewide Holiday effort for California's deployed military, National Guard and Reserve members and their families.  Last year Operation Christmas for Our Troops collected more than 47,000 toys and DVD's as well as gift cards for California military families.  Operation Christmas for Our Troops runs from December 4 through December 15, 2006.
 
“I truly hope that all California’s veterans and residents open their hearts and pocketbooks generously and donate to this very worthwhile event,” said Secretary Johnson.  “Our military men and women stationed throughout the world will greatly appreciate knowing that their families will enjoy a safe and merry holiday season.”
 
How you can help:
 
For The Children of Our Military: Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to one of our statewide drop-off locations by December 21, 2006. Donations are greatly appreciated!
 
For Our Troops: Please bring a new or used DVD.
 
Drop off locations can be found around the State Capitol, Ralph’s Supermarkets throughout the state, and near the Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento.  More information regarding additional drop off locations can be found online at Yellow Ribbon America’s website at www.yellowribbonamerica.com/dropofflocations.html.
