Status of Vet bills-Approps suspense 5-31-07

CSCVC: Today the Assembly and Senate Appropriations committees heard their suspense file. This is the last hearing for this committee for those bills seeking to pass to the floor of the house of origin. Bills that were "HELD" in committee today are effectively dead. An "A" roll call means the whole committee voted for the bill. A "B" roll call means all the Democrats voted Aye and all the Republicans voted Nay (whereby the bill passes because Democrats outnumber Republicans).

The following action took place on these CSCVC supported bills:

ASSEMBLY APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE
AB 11 DeVore - Vehicles, special license plates - HELD.
AB 138 Bass - Vehicles, vets parking - A roll call, w/ amendments. (passed)
AB 170 Saldana - Child care, state preschool programs - HELD.
AB 187 Nakanishi - veterans, cemeteries - A roll call w/ amendments. (passed)
AB 445 Nava - License plates, disabled vets - HELD
AB 530 Salas - Taxation, military housing - A roll call. (passed)
AB 581 Salas - Combat stress support team - B roll call (plus Assemblyman Nakanishi) w/ amendments to narrow to two teams. (passed)
AB 696 Hernandez - State employees, military benefits - B roll call. (passed)
AB 767 Walters - Student financial aid, vets - A roll call w/ clarifying amendments. (passed)
AB 1387 Runner - Natl Guard benefits - HELD.
AB 1485 Jeffries - Veterans property tax exemption -HELD.
AB 1528 Assembly Banking Committee - Financial services and products to military members - A roll call. (passed)
AB 1552 Salas - Vehicles: special license plates - B roll call. (passed)
AB 1661 Cook - Drivers license and ID cards - HELD.
AB 1662 Cook - Absentees: overseas voting - A roll call w/ amendments. (passed)

SENATE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE
