In 1965, armed with only three months of experience as a registered nurse in Philadelphia, Eileen Moore was called to serve with the 85thEvacuation Hospital in Qui Nhon, South Vietnam. What she witnessed not only shaped her future, but her character as well. Nearly four decades later, Associate Justice Moore, with the California State Court of Appeals, now advocates for the fair treatment of returning Veterans in legal proceedings.

“There is no doubt in my mind that nurses represented much more than medical providers to our soldiers. We were sort of a connection with America, with home, for them.”

Justice Moore will serve as the keynote speaker for the Vietnam War Museum of America Foundation (VWMAF) Free Speaker Series on Thursday, January 17, 2013. The event will be held at the Courtyard Center, located at 12732 Main Street, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This is the second of a 3-part Free Speaker Series hosted by the VWMAF, dedicated to establishing an educational environment where people from all over the world can come to remember, experience, and understand real, heart-breaking and ultimately courageous stories of a complex and controversial time.
