VVA National Education Subcommittee

MISSION STATEMENT

Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., is dedicated to providing unparalleled service to students and teachers in their learning and teaching of the history of the Vietnam War. We will continue to strive to provide up-to-date teaching strategies, resources and individuals through our organization’s Speakers Bureau, classroom base resources and the use of on-line technology.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMS

Students from time to time have classroom assignments in which they need to interview a Vietnam veteran. Vietnam Veterans of America now offers an On-line Interview a Vietnam Veteran Program. This program connects a student with a Vietnam veteran who will answer questions assigned from a teacher or as part of a research project.

Teachers may contact our organization for information about resources to help them in teaching the Vietnam War. Our organization stands ready to meet their needs in order to promote accurate information for the classroom.

We also offer teachers a step-by-step guide to plan, organize, and publish an Oral History Book Project, which is used to record the oral histories of Vietnam veterans in their community. Schools can take advantage of this program by working with their local Vietnam Veterans of America chapter.

In addition, our organization has programs tailored to the needs of elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and colleges - programs that pay tribute to our veterans and patriotic venues.

If you have any questions about the Vietnam War, please forward your request to the VVA Education Subcommittee.
