The "Waffle House Girls" befriended the members of the so-called "Southern Express" on a visit to their restaurant on the way back from a state council meeting. The "Express" consists of VVA members from the South District - from VVA Chapters 47, 53, 446, 472, 785, and sometimes 355, 526, and 756.

The Waffle House was picked after one meeting for lunch, upon entering the restaurant some of the patrons asked us about our veteran status and thanked us for our service to our country. The waitresses "adopted" us, so-to-speak, at the next visit calling us "their veteans" when we arrived at the restaurant. Ever since it has been a mandatory stop for us and we have shared our stories, as have the "girls" to us. They are very patriotic and appreciate our sacrifices, and many have a close connection (if not direct) to our current military - and involvement in the War On Terror.

Thank you!
