VVA Chapter 355 Activities

VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA 355 AWARD SIX SCHOLARSHIPS IN 2005

The Nevada County Chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America awarded six scholarships to graduating high school seniors. This year scholarships were awarded to applicants from Nevada Union, Bear River and Forest Lake schools. Melissa Luvisi, Derrick Smith, John Fleuti, and Andrew, Chelsea and Danielle Hawkinson were awarded $500 scholarships. Scholarships are available to all graduating seniors and are awarded to students who exemplify high overall standards of academic and special achievements.

At the July meeting of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Dr. Richard Sheridan, Director and member of the Scholarship Committee, presented the awards to the Hawkinsons. The chapter raises funds throughout the year to support the scholarship program, Boy Scouts, veterans in special circumstances and community activities.
